COVID-19 has been a boon for the billionaire class. The 1% are raking it in, while workers are suffering job losses, employment insecurity and wage stagnation. The hypocrisy of it all is that these very same people are on the front foot promoting “corporate social purpose.” While COVID-19 is decimating the lives of so many, these so-called woke capitalists are profiting handsomely. This corporate populism is creating a veil that allows them to get away with “pandemic profiteering”.
