Good Business Message

You can make a difference with your Christmas party by visiting any number of the city’s social enterprises and enjoying what they have on offer while contributing to their cause.

With Christmas just around the corner, and with all that eating, drinking and making merry in the offing we thought we’d offer the opportunity to divert your attention away from the usual bars and cafes and focus it instead on the most responsible businesses out there offering food, drink and even gifts.

Welcome to the Good Xmas Trail

The Good Xmas trail is designed to raise the awareness of social enterprises operating in and around Melbourne and, more to the point, help them increase their sales and social impact during December.

It’s a pretty simple idea to do more good this December. Christmas partygoers around Melbourne are encouraged to get behind good causes by choosing to shop or eat out at social enterprises that support initiatives aimed at tackling a wide range of social issues and disadvantage, both locally and overseas.

Through the inaugural Good Xmas Trail, office workers and business professionals can make their Christmas party budget go a lot further by supporting responsible businesses whose profits tackle issues like homelessness, food waste, or developing world causes.

We want to encourage people who are planning their office Christmas celebrations to consider choosing a different sort of venue this year, one that actively supports a worthy cause

Whether it’s supporting local community kitchens tackling food waste; grabbing their daily coffee from outlets that help the homeless; or enjoying a few drinks in the knowledge that you’re making a difference in the developing world, it doesn’t take much to do some good while having a good time.

We want Christmas party planners to consider a ‘good’ alternative over simply visiting their usual cafe or lunch spot for their planned Christmas celebrations with their staff.

Social enterprises that have signed up for the Good Xmas Trail include Shebeen, Wheelly Good Coffee, Crepes for Change, Scarf and The Welcome Committee, which supports asylum seekers and refugees.

As well as encouraging people to visit one or more social enterprises, we hope they will also be moved to do more good by buying a socially responsible gift.

Social media will play an important part in spreading the word. Get involved with #GoodXmasTrail
